Step one: Where do I start?!

I have always, ALWAYS wanted to be an Illustrator. Since the time I owned my first set of crayolas I was stealing all the printer paper to make my own stories, or drawing scenes of  poor Sally's lost 31 green mittens (when she originally had 97) instead of doing the homework equation. Probably why I'm not the best mathematician.  It has been the second biggest goal of mine, and I'm setting out to do it!
Problem is, where do I start? I haven't really found a direct answer. But there are hints here and there of how to start out. So, my current plan of action is to:

  1. Create my Illustration Portfolio,
  2. Set up a decent website
  3. Send out a sample of my work on postcards to publishers
  4. See what happens.

It may work, it may not, but I won't stop trying! I love it, I have a passion for transforming text into emotion, setting and humor on canvas. I get giddy about finding what works for a painting and what doesn't, the right colors to use, or getting that characters face just right. It's my favorite and I feel like this is what I'm meant to do!
I'm not the best writer (as you may have noticed). So forgive my skill, but if you're interested in joining me in my process, have any advice, or just think this is semi-interesting, then please feel free to follow! I will be posting my process with updates and my latest work.

Thanks for stopping by! Wish me luck!

P.S. Just for fun,
